Newzones Welcomes Charles Arnoldi!
First achieving major acclaim in the late
1970’s, Charles Arnoldi has been making art for over 40 years including
sculpture, painting and prints. Arnoldi graduated from the Chouinard Institute
of Art in Los Angeles in the late 60’s and began exhibiting with reputable
galleries almost immediately.
Arnoldi has received several prestigious
awards including the Young Talent Award from the Los Angeles County Museum of
Art (1969), John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship (1975), two National Endowment for
the Arts Fellowships (1974 and 1982) and the Maestro Fellowship from the
California Arts Council (1982). In 2008, Radius Books published “Charles
Arnoldi 1972-2008”, including an intro by Frank Gehry and essay by Dave Hickey.
Arnoldi’s work can be found in numerous collections
and museums throughout the United States including the Museum of Modern Art,
the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the
Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Guggenheim, Bilbao, Spain.
