Don Maynard - Falling Star

In April of 2012, Newzones artist Don Maynard was selected to complete a public art piece for Half Moon Bay Park in Ottawa. Falling Star is a 15ft tall cast aluminum star, balanced on one of its five points. Maynard has worked the surface with organic carvings and protrusions that allude to the star's long journey. At night, light shimmers through hundreds of small holes drilling into the star referencing celestial bodies and constellations in the night sky.

The finished piece has been put into place atop the community toboggan hill in Half Moon Bay Park. Check out this video of the installation of the sculpture!
